The Pause In The Sentence (2016) This is a short story that I wrote that deals with depression, suicide, and mental illness.

“Jess feels alone, unwanted, and afraid. It’s not until she is shown the power of love, friendship, and what a beautiful thing life really is that she begins to understand that she is not the failure she believed she was.”

 

Angel of God (2014) This short story was inspired by the Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins and an exercise in a fiction class.

“Eight-year-old Ellie May struggles with the death of her father and realizing what that means for her and her family.”

 

Rose (2014) This short story was based on an exercise in which we rewrote a fairy tale. The fairy tale I picked was Sleeping Beauty.

“Rose is very sleepy and very sick. She has pushed herself too much in school and when she falls asleep, exhausted, she has strange dreams which involve the weird boy from back home and the cute guy in her classes at college.”
